Pandemic Thanksgiving

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

Everything about 2020 has been unique and Thanksgiving will be no exception. It is always recommended that you follow the CDC's guidelines on holidays to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 - use the link below. However, regardless of how you celebrate, there are some things you can do to make the most of a Pandemic Thanksgiving.

As much as we would like to pretend that the COVID-19 pandemic isn't happening, doing so could be more harmful than helpful. It's important to acknowledge that Thanksgiving (and holidays in general) will look different than previous years and to embrace the differences. This might be the year to change things up; to get rid of the things that you never really enjoyed or add new traditions. If ever there was a year to break the rules, this is it!

The energy and effort needed during holidays is often overwhelming. Add that to a pandemic and you have mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion. There is no shame in taking some shortcuts this year to make things easier on you and your family. Consider which aspects of your Thanksgiving traditions mean the most, implement those, and forget the rest.

Above all, no matter if you have a small celebration or a Zoom get together, be sure to enjoy the day with your family. Reflect on what you are thankful for and cherish time with your loved ones.
