Parenting is not easy, add on top of that navigating mental health concerns, finding the right resources, and supporting your child... it's a lot. No matter what your child is struggling with, here are some universal tips:

1. Believe them. Your child telling you what's going on means they trust you. Continue this by believing their struggles are real.

2. Listen. There is a time and place for advice, usually kids just want you to listen and hear them. If you're not sure, ask them if they want advice or if they want you to listen.

3. Include them. If you do seek professional help, include them in the process. It will increase the chance that they will engage better.

4. Take care of you. It is easy to get lost in your child's struggles and forget about yourself, but you're important too! Just remember... you can't pour from an empty cup.
